April’s closely watched Employment Situation Summary from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed a return to the growth trend in the labor market. The U.S. economy gained 223,000 new jobs in April, soothing economic concerns after March’s surprisingly low results. Those results were revised down an additional 41,000 jobs to bring the total to 85,000, an even worse month of growth than originally believed.
