Chicago (October 28, 2004)
Fieldglass, Inc., announced today that several of its customers, who are leading Fortune 500 companies, participated in the first Fieldglass roundtable to share best practices for using InSite, Fieldglass’ services procurement platform. Experts from GlaxoSmithKline, Verizon Wireless, Wyeth and other industry leaders exchanged ideas and discussed how their organizations have been able to reduce costs and save time while increasing compliance since adopting the Fieldglass platform.

InSite is a Web-based application that helps large companies manage the complexities of global services procurement. These services range from simple time and material services such as contingent labor, to deliverables-based projects including offshore and outsourcing, all the way to more complex combinations of services and products. More than 900 suppliers use the Fieldglass system, including nearly 50 in Europe.

At the roundtable, Fieldglass CEO Jai Shekhawat and CTO Sean Chou discussed industry perspectives, the Fieldglass strategic vision, and InSite’s roadmap for the future.

“The roundtable afforded all of us a tremendous opportunity to learn about the ways in which InSite is changing the landscape for the procurement of services,” Shekhawat said. “We are grateful to our customers for taking the time to participate and to share meaningful findings for making their organizations more productive and efficient.”

Presentations also were made by Fieldglass Board Member George Roberts, the former Executive Vice President of North American Sales for Oracle Corp.; Cheryl Rowden, Director of IT Finance for Verizon Wireless; and Brian Bules, Director of Strategic Recruitment and Alliances for GlaxoSmithKline.

Rowden discussed streamlining the procurement process and how Verizon Wireless is using InSite in a self-administered configuration, without a master service provider, to successfully manage its contingent workforce, lower contractor bill rates, and eliminate maverick spending.

“With InSite, we were able to control our vendor pool, establish a consistent set of administrative and financial processes, effectively track the time of contingent workers, save 17 percent of our spend budget year-over-year, and improve our reporting,” Rowden said. “Our savings have been achieved while driving down our time-to-hire and time-toprocess invoices significantly, resulting in improved employee efficiency.”

Bules discussed optimizing human capital management and how GSK employs InSite to help optimize its Human Capital and Services Portfolio while rationalizing the use and performance of its preferred supply base. GSK is one of the world’s leading producers of prescription medicines, vaccines, and consumer healthcare products.

“Our challenges in optimizing GSK’s complementary workforce (outside services) are improving compliance, reducing cycle times, reducing overall cost, and enhancing reporting capabilities,” Bules said. “We are meeting these challenges by establishing a preferred supplier network, agreeing upon enterprise-wide processes, and deploying the Fieldglass InSite solution.”
