We recently hosted our second annual EMEA Best Practices Summit in Berlin. This customer-only event takes place each year in both the U.S. and Europe and provides our users with the opportunity to connect, network, share best practices and learn about the latest industry and Fieldglass news.
The most important thing we've gathered from past Summits is that our customers value learning from each other. Exchanging ideas with their peers, discussing what's worked and what hasn't, and sharing plans for expansion helps them improve their programs.
The nature of the staffing industry has changed, growing beyond just staffing to include contingent workers managed under Statements of Work (SOW), independent contractors and more.
The BLS released the September Employment Situation Summary last week without much good news. A total of 142,000 new jobs were reported, far below economists' expectations of 190,000. The number of new jobs for July and August were revised down as well, by 12,000 and 37,000 respectively. While the number of new jobs was lower than expected and the revisions were negative, the unemployment rate remained steady at 5.1%.
Each month, we share the biggest news and industry trends. Check out what happened in September below!
The flexible workforce has been booming for the past several years and is showing no signs of slowing down. According to Randstad Sourceright's 2015 Top Talent Trends report, 69 percent of employers said they will need a higher percentage of contingent workers than what is utilized today to remain competitive. As this sector has grown, the importance of a VMS to successfully manage flexible labor has become apparent.
